The Quotation Bank - weekly English tuition classes to support your in-school learning
We have now released the schedule for our GCSE English Language and Literature classes for September 2024 and booking is now open, beginning week starting 30th Sept 2024.
Our weekly online English classes are one-hour long and run for the whole school year up until your GCSEs, and are only £12 per weekly class.
These classes are designed to consolidate and reinforce the content you learn in school, and will stretch and develop your skills to help you achieve your full potential in the exams.
In each block of classes, our English teacher and tutor Becky Wood will cover both Language and Literature, focusing on: your Shakespeare play; the Modern text; the 19th Century Novel; Poetry; Creative Writing; and Non-Fiction Writing. Over the course of the year, you will revise these elements again and again to provide you with the key ingredients for exam success.
The Quotation Bank classes focus specifically on detailed English subject content based on your school curriculum and the texts you are studying, and are designed to directly supplement a student's in-school learning in an academic, focused way. Each session will follow a clear and practical format to enable effective revision and ultimate exam confidence.
The class teacher and tutor, Becky Wood, is:
- A highly experienced and fully-qualified teacher of English
- A Lead Practitioner and Head of Department
- An experienced GCSE examiner
- The co-founder of Team English, an English teaching community sharing best practice across the country.

How often are the classes?
Classes are once a week, for one hour.
Are the Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday classes the same?
Yes. The content of the three sessions is the same, so you sign up for a specific day and remain in that class for the rest of the term.
Where do the lessons take place?
The classes take place on Zoom, and we use all the online tools available to us, including whiteboards and lesson resources, to make it an interactive and engaging online classroom where you can contribute verbally or via the chat – and hopefully make friends in the process!
Does it matter what exam board or texts I am studying?
No. The Quotation Bank classes are similar to our highly successful school workshops, so we focus on thematic revision and how to apply our textual knowledge in our answers to fully optimise our marks – whatever text you are studying, every lesson will be applicable to you! We will go in to great textual detail for all texts, and Becky is an experienced subject expert, so she knows all of the texts well.
Will this simply repeat the material I learn in school?
No, these classes are designed to consolidate and reinforce the material you learn in school, but also stretch and challenge you to reach your full potential. We focus on helping you use your subject knowledge alongside exam techniques to optimise your written answers!
How long do I book for?
Each booking is for a 6-week series of lessons that covers a half-term. Each half-term throughout the year covers a new set of topics and material, so over the course of a year you will build absolute subject confidence.
